How to prepare the meetup, what to check, what to do if something is off and the duties after the deal is closed.
- 01
Before agreeing
Look at the other person’s reputation (their stars and the exchanges they have made) and check the listing details. Talk only inside Shinymeet: the platform does not allow exchanging contact details and you should not do it outside to meet “on your own”.
- 02
Meet at a trusted spot
Choose a verified trusted spot, with opening hours, staff and, ideally, cameras. Avoid homes, doorways and remote places. Shinymeet suggests times that fit both people’s availability and the spot’s opening hours.
- 03
At the meetup
Check the card calmly and compare it with the listing: version, language, condition and number. If it is graded, check the certificate number and that the slab is not open. Do it before paying, without letting anyone rush you.
- 04
Payment
On Shinymeet you do not pay through the platform: agree the method (cash or another you both use) and pay at the moment of the exchange, face to face. Never pay in advance to someone you do not know.
- 05
Warning signs
- Great hurry or pressure to close.
- A price too good to be true.
- Last-minute changes of place or time.
- Refusing to let you check the card or to meet at the trusted spot.
- Asking for an advance payment or a strange method.
- 06
If something is off
Do not go ahead and tell the trusted spot’s staff: they have your contact in case of any problem. If you think you have been scammed, keep the screenshots and report it to the Policía Nacional or the Guardia Civil.
- 07
Afterwards: close and rate
The trusted spot closes the deal as completed or cancelled and rates you both. As buyer or seller, you rate the trusted spot. You have 3 days from completion to rate; after that you cannot use Shinymeet until you do. The trusted spot also has 3 days to close the meetup: if it does not, it stops receiving new meetups.

What the platform does not cover
Shinymeet puts individuals in touch and does not take part in the sale or take responsibility for it, nor does the trusted spot. Consumer-law guarantees apply to purchases from professionals, not to sales between individuals.
